The meeting was called to order Bartlett Hall at 7:05 p.m.
The Secretary's report was read and accepted.
The Treasurer's report was read and accepted. The chapter shows a balance of $810.49 in the treasury.
The following motions were proposed and passed by the brotherhood:
- Move: that APO will absorb the cost of the UMOC contest; this not to set a precedent for the future semesters.
- Move: that the editor of the Minuteman be directed to look into getting a nonprofit organization mailing permit.
- Move: that $15 be appropriated for the Minuteman.
- Move: the Kappa Omicron chapter purchase place cards for the library stating "we hope that others are quiet so that you may study.”
- Move that the banquet would be held Saturday, May 18, 1963.
- Move: to strike the phrase "kneeling as you are will you extend your right hand towards the American flag..." and substitute for this "facing the American flag will you raise your right hand in the scout sign" on page 18 of the ritual manual.
- The following motion: to strike the phrase to strike the phrase "would you kneel" in the president's part as stated at the bottom of page 17 in the ritual manual and substitute "bow your head to show humility."
The following motions failed pass:
- Move: to strike the phrase "with this assurance, are you willing to take this obligation?" Answer "I am”.
- Move to strike the phrase "with this assurance are you willing to take this obligation?" Answer "I am" and substitute for this reading of the oath itself.
- Move: the cost of UMOC be taken out of the $500 service fund.
Mark Cheren appointed the following to serve on the Nominating Committee; Mark Cheren, Jonathan Tuttle, Jim Farrow, Jack Kooyoomjian, and George Cusson.
A name for the pledge class was chosen. It will be called the Centennial pledge class.
Announcements:
- Please return little brother comment sheets and any meaning on a before April 29.
- There will be any membership committee meeting concerning the Board of Review and the Pledge Initiation before the next general meeting. Members of this committee will be personally notified of the time and place.
- Brothers make sure that you know the pledge was manual you are signing. It is your duty and his to get to know each other.
- There will be danced at Bowditch Lodge at 8:30 p.m. April 6, 1963.
- The Awards Ccommittee will be asked to meet as soon as possible.
- The following people will assist the program committee for the remainder of the semester: George Jones, Bob Cahill, and John Childs.
- Bob Coffin, Bob Huot, and Jack Kooyoomjian were chosen as members of the Finance Committee for the remaining of the semester.
The following motion was also passed by the brotherhood: move: that Gamma Sigma Sigma be invited to dissipate in the Amherst Fair Project on a 50-50 basis.
